Welcome

Thank you for joining us on the blog, designed to give everyone at Northview access to experiencing Northview40 together. We invite you to email us at Northview40@gmail.com and share your experiences throughout the 40 days. Your comments will be posted here as well as each day's prayer topic, corresponding Bible verses, and a suggestion each week for how we can fast together during this time. Your involvement will help make Northview40 a rich experience for all.

We hope that you will be encouraged to take your own steps toward a deeper connection with God, your goal being intimacy with Him, not just a "perfect prayer life" for several weeks. A wise woman has said, "No one of us would say we don't need God. But how much of what we do is done without Him?" Let's invest a few minutes each day to pray and a few more minutes once a week to fast, taking a risk to need Him and watching to see what He will do.

Finding Info on the Blog

To the left you will see a header that says "Labels."  Each time we make a blog post, we will give it a label that will help you more easily find information you may be looking for.  For example, any prayer topics, verses, fasting topics, or other information having to do with the "I'm Sorry" section will all have an I'm Sorry label.  Click the label and the posts pertaining to it will display on the blog.

If you have any questions about this or other features of the blog, email us at Northview40@gmail.com and we will be happy to help!

Friday

Today, talk to God about someone you have difficulty getting along with.

2/25/10

Thursday

Today, ask God to help you know him for who he truly is.

2/24/10

Wednesday

Today, tell God one thing that's bothering you in your relationship with Him.

2/23/10

Drivers, Start your Engines...

Tomorrow we officially begin Northview40!  You can find the day's prayer topic in the guide you received at last Sunday's service or visit us here tomorrow (each day's topic will post at 12am).

Feel free to spend as little or as much time talking with God about the topic - it's not the quantity that matters most, but the quality (that it's genuine and honest) and the consistency (even if it's only 60 seconds, every day).  Challenge yourself- you know best what will be an improvement for you in connecting with God.

If you forget a day, don't worry- just pick back up on the date you remember.  That will keep us all praying  about the same thing each day.  Make freedom and joy your goal - not rules, pressure or guilt.  God is not focused on your imperfection, but your desire to see Him.

The adventure begins!

Need a Northview40 Prayer Guide?

If you weren't able to get your Northview40 guide during the service today, you can pick one up next Sunday at the Roundabout. We will also post the prayer topics on the blog each day, so join us here in the mean time.

Hello Northview!

Why Fast?

For some of us, fasting may seem extreme, overwhelming, unnecessary, or just plain weird.  If you are interesting in fasting during Northview40 but feeling unsure, we'd like to offer a few thoughts...

"I'm Sorry" Fasting:
Let's consider the following together, anytime between today and 3/6...

What is an activity within Christianity that you feel you "should" or are "supposed to" do?  Think of what this might be and spend a few minutes doing it, asking God to help you do it from your heart.  Trust Him to provide you with a fresh, meaningful experience.

Verses for "I'm Sorry"

Isaiah 55:2 – “Why spend money on what is not bread, and your labor on what does not satisfy? Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good and your soul will delight in the richest of fare.”

Psalm 51:1 - “Have mercy on me, O God, according to your unfailing love; according to your great compassion blot out my transgressions.”
